Make your own sprite style tutorial out now!

Tutorial

I’m happy to announce that I’ve released a step-by-step tutorial video for making your own sprite style in Top Down Sprite Maker.

Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqZTsHniSUE

I don’t expect the majority of people interested in my program to be interested in this, as it’s quite a technical and advanced feature of the program, but to me, this is the ultimate promise of TDSM. I’m quite an untalented pixel artist myself, so I’m really looking to empower the community to create with TDSM serving as a platform, to hopefully end up with an entire ecosystem of high-quality pixel art sprite styles that will make the program more valuable for everyone.

If you haven’t already, please make sure to update to v1.2.0, which introduces modular sprite styles that can be housed in a ZIP file.

Sprite style development guide

To go along with the tutorial, I’ve also released a sprite style development guide. It contains links to all the relevant resources you might need, plus the materials to follow along with the tutorial video.

Approved sprite styles

Sprite styles made by me or verified by me as compiling correctly will be added to the approved sprite style collection. If you’re interested in publishing your own sprite style, upload it as an Itch.io project and post a link to your project in this discussion thread. I will inspect your style and add it to the collection if I’m able to upload it to the program successfully.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys end up creating!
